Alana and I had been engaged for far too long! Some 10+ years! Busy lives got in way, things just didn’t come together, and stars just didn’t align. Thank you COVID as a start!

We live in Brisbane with our 2 beautiful boys and were returning home to NZ for a long overdue Christmas with the whanau.

We had planned a few days R & R down The Marlborough Sounds and at the last minute, thought, bugger it! I’ve always wanted to get married down The Sounds, so let’s try and make it happen!

We of course needed a celebrant and with the remoteness, and literally only weeks out, really needed to find a local. As the bush telegraph works, we were quickly thrown Jann’s details and we reached out to her.

We were definitely looking for something simple and very much an elopement style wedding. Just ‘getting it done’ was kind of what we were looking to do.

However, what we received and the Wedding Day that transpired, completed exceeded all expectations and was nothing short of the most perfect of days! Jann had a huge part to play in that!

From the moment we first contacted Jann, we felt at ease, in good hands and knew this was the celebrant for us. The process to prepare the ceremony was so easy. Jann provided the perfect amount options to choose from and those options had just the right amount of variation and difference from one another. It wasn’t over the top or too overwhelming.

We had one moment of jitters and nerves and Jann simply reassured us with a simple line. Going through the preparation process, you don’t really get a true feel or have any expectations on how it will pan out on the day, but rather they just appear as words on a page.

The day itself included boat journeys and ground transport via ATV’s and tractors. Not quite the normal modes of transport but Jann was 100% on board making it all so stress free.

Jann began the ceremony, and in hindsight, we quickly realized how important the celebrant is. Jann delivered the ceremony confidently, with the most infectious smile along with laughter and humility.

The words we choose and the way they were delivered by Jann, represented us so perfectly with sincerity, love, humbleness and humour. We just did not expect it to be so moving and emotional. A true testament to Jann, her understanding of us and the delivery of the ceremony.

The process and ceremony could not have been any more perfect! Thank you Jann!

Our beautiful couple were so ecstatic to hold their beautiful intimate registry ceremony on the front deck, right by the water’s edge at Te Mahia. With just a couple of selected friends to witness the proceedings and the rest of their family and friends watched from afar via a video link.
